Hello people of Connellsville and surrounding areas. Just wanted to stop in and let everyone know that The Laurel Mall isnt just a weekend flea market. Laurel Mall is open 7 days a week, and there are a few shops that are open 7 days week there as well. There are a couple variety/ thrift/ antique store, a gym, a dentist office, a hair salon, a sign & t-shirt shop, a cafe, a discount clothing shop, and a sports card shop that is open all week.
These are mostly locally owned small businesses that are trying to keep this great old mall alive. Most people have written off the Laurel Mall after place like Montgomery Wards, Ames, & Family Farm closed down and left. Shop & Save moved in for a few years and closed too. But Peachins has their Grocery store & Hardware store in the old Wards building. Along with Pechins Firehouse Resturant, and a Beer Distrubutor. Ford Business Machines now runs there store out of the old "Farm Store". First Niagara Bank is in the old National City location. Kathryn's Jewelers has been in there same location inside the mall for years. And who can forget about Burger King or the Carmike movie theater.
On the weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) Every store in the mall is open including a flea market. The Flea Market has 3 locations within the mall, and it is every changing. Butchko's Auctioning Services has a new retail location set up in the mall as well.
So what I am trying to say here is that The Laurel Mall is making a come back. It isnt a high fashion, over price, retail mall like it use to be at one time. Its a bunch of locally owned stores trying to keep open a landmark that many of you have shopped at in the past.
So please come on out at take a look around. Just cause a couple of store are closed dosent mean the whole mall is closed. Also "Mall walkers" are welcomed. Come in out of the cold any walk around for you health. Laurel Mall can also be found on Facebook. Click the "Like" button and stay informed on events going on at the Mall. There is a blood drive going on at the Laurel Mall on November 5th. For more info on that check out there facebook page. In closing I would like to thank you for reading this. Please pass it along to all of your friends, and I hope to see you at the mall.
